Illegal alien proponents creating 'safe zone'
July 15, 2008
The open-borders crowd is now posing as environmentalists in order to hamper our attempts at controlling the border. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) is sponsoring a bill that would extend federal wildlife protection to about 84,000 acres along the U.S.-Mexico border at Coronado National Forest. This would effectively move the border 30 miles to the north, according to one retired border patrol agent who spoke to CNSNews.com.
Grijalva’s bill would create an enormous safe haven for drug runners and human smugglers, not to mention creating an environmental disaster. If you’ve ever seen the areas at the border where illegals totally trash the landscape as they come over you can imagine a large swath of this proposed 84,000 acres would look just like that. This bill isn’t about saving the environment, as Grijalva has proposed. It’s about facilitating more illegal entry into our country.
The only thing that even comes close to stopping the flow of illegals is our border patrol’s ability to see across the border and apprehend border crossers and illegal aliens. This bill would greatly limit that ability and exacerbate the atrocities that befall those who hire coyotes to guide them across. The incidents of rape and robbery of these vulnerable people is already a huge problem. This would give the coyotes full power to take advantage of these people, away from the watchful eye of the border patrol.
Speaking of the environment, the radical dirt people within the U.S. Congress are getting more and more ridiculous. Congressman Ed Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee (yes, there really is such a thing) told high schoolers gathered at the U.S. Capitol that global warming caused Hurricane Katrina, the conflict in Darfur and even led to the “black hawk down” battle in Somalia. Yes, he’s blaming black hawk down on global warming!
Now, try to follow his logic. He says global warming caused the drought in Somalia which led to famine. The famine prompted the United States to send aid and food. We had to send troops to separate the groups that were fighting over the food which led to Black Hawk Down. Thus, the battle of Mogadishu in which a black hawk helicopter was shot down and 18 servicemen lost their lives in the ensuing battle, was caused by global warming. No, it was caused by lack of support from then-President Bill Clinton who found himself in the middle of a mess and abandoned our troops there to fend for themselves.
I’m sure it won’t be long before Markey and his ilk blame the high gas prices and the mortgage crisis on global warming. It’s gotten to be comical. Everything that ails us is tied to global warming.
Forget the fact that no serious hurricane expert links Katrina to global warming. Forget the fact that droughts and famines have been happening at least since Biblical times. Markey and others find it necessary to indoctrinate our youth with fanciful notions that global warming is the overriding problem in the world.
This current Democrat congress was elected under the promise of reducing gas prices and getting control of the budget. They’ve done neither. Instead, they’ve squandered their power on ridiculous hearings about U.S. attorneys firings – even interrogating Karl Rove’s empty chair when he refused to appear – along with blocking new drilling, blocking new refineries and loading bills with record amounts of ear marks. Congressional approval ratings, at 9 percent, are at historic lows.
I’m not saying the Republicans took full advantage of their opportunities either but, good gracious, could this Democrat-controlled Congress be any more inept?
